First, I've received several questions asking what I use to paint with. I use a Porter Cable HVLP Gravity Feed Spray Gun. It's amazing. I will say though, it took me an entire year of frustration to finally figure it out. It's powered by the MOST ENORMOUS compressor you've ever seen and it takes up quite a chunk of space in our garage. The compressor also took quite a while for me to feel comfortable with. If you've ever used one before you'll understand the intimidation factor. They are SO loud and they shake like they're waiting to explode or something. Not to mention the pressure gauges that need to be set. I always worried if I pressed something wrong, it would explode. The "bleeding" of the air tank still makes me nervous. If Zac's home, I always ask him to do the honors :)
Second, I have also had a few emails asking if I'd paint something they already own. The answer to that is: yes. If you can send me an email with photos of the paint and condition of the piece and details of what you'd like done, I can send you my rate. Then you drop it off and I get to work. If it requires sanding, filling, priming, painting and polyurethane - not a big deal. If it requires stripping of the paint before all these other steps, than the rate goes up. Stripping = mess + lots of time + ugh.
Natalie! I'm so happy I found you!
ReplyDeleteI want one of those!!! I'm not so hot on getting a smooth surface when I repaint things.
ReplyDeleteNice, I love your blog and painting furniture is right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteI have something similar and it is a pain in the a** to clean. I've stuck with can spraypaint and love it! BUT the color choices are limited. How do you clean yours and how quickly? LOVE your blog!
