for those of you interested in making a shade yourself, it might be helpful to know the complete cost breakdown for the project.  here it is...

1 ikea meret panel: $10 {this was cost effective for me because i'm using the other panel for a shade in colby's room}

2 1/4 yards lining: $7.85

5 yards ribbon: $6

bag of brass rings: $5.50

ribs x 7: $18.55

eye screws x 5: $1.25

cord drop weight: $1.25

46" pine 1 x 2: $4ish {can't find my receipt}

metal weight rod: $5.50

14 yards nylon cording: $3.25

Grand total of: $64.15
