Yesterday I picked up some blue ikat fabric for the playroom makeover. It's not a WOW fabric, but it was only $36 for 7 yards - that's WOW enough for me!
So today I am teaching myself how to make pinch pleat drapes {I have never made drapes before}...ugh. Sewing, to me, is a necessary evil. I dream of paying a seamstress to make them for me.... Who am I kidding? The DIY mentality is too ingrained in me - I wouldn't.
As you're reading this I am probably banging my head against my sewing machine or screaming at the stitches I'm pulling. Wish me luck and hopefully next week they'll be up and ready to share...if I don't have a sewing induced breakdown first.

Where in the world did you find it at that price? They are going to look great!
ReplyDeleteYou know, there is this special kind of "tape" that you can sew across the top of the drape and then pull a string in the tape and it automatically creates a pinch pleat for you. I've never used it (I prefer clip rings) but I imagine it would be super easy!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with and I'm JEALOUS of your find!
ooooooo sounds fun
ReplyDeleteWonderfully Domestic,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip!
Great deal on the fabric! Where did you find it? I recently made my first set of drapes (definitely not pinch pleat though)they weren't too bad to make. I can't wait to see yours.
ReplyDelete$36 for drapes! That is a wow for me too!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I just stumbled across your blog and absolutely love it! I have spent a shameful amount of time pouring over your posts and marveling at your talent. :-) I am a self-taught seamstress myself so I totally feel your "pain" so to speak. I'm now a new follower and look forward to seeing how it all turns out!
