before and after :: antique green dresser

This dresser is the second milk paint piece from last week.  Don't you LOVE the color?!
Yeah, me too.

It's Lexington Green by the Old Fashioned Milk Paint company.  I added the bonding agent this time too for the same reason I listed here.

The glaze I used is the wiping stain from this tutorial.

As a general rule, I remove all back plates and scrap any mirrors that come with dressers.  They tend to date the furniture in a way I'm not looking for.  Taking them off is like an instant facelift for dressers.
(Yes, this means my garage is full of random mirrors.  Want one?)

This one's also for sale!  Email me for pricing and shipping nattycox@gmail.com.

  5. Love to see you expanding to milk paint finishes... can't wait to try it once the weather gets cold here and I am forced inside. You do just as beautiful a job on the distressed finishes as on the glossy sleek ones!

  8. Yes I do love that colour, very much Natty. I also love the antiquing you've done with wax I am guessing.

What I would do with the back boards etc you take off is add them to the top of a board and make a vintage style sign. I think that would be really cute and I would take them off your hands and do just that, except for the small matter of me being very far away in Australia!

  12. I love both the milk paint pieces you've done. I've just started playing with it, painting a dresser, but I've been using a foam roller instead of a brush (and you can see lines from the roller a bit, so I may switch...). Can I ask how many coats of paint you used? Thanks!

    1. I put on three coats. When you sand it down at the end, most of the lines should disappear.

  17. Love the color! It looks much different than the swatch on the Old Fashioned Milk Paints website though (and I like how it turned out in your pic much better!) Did you do anything special when you mixed the paint? Thanks!
