My Shop

I've added the first few furniture pieces to my shop (the tab is on the errr....right). The lady I purchased this Broyhill Chest from said she originally purchased it way back in the 70s. It was in amazing condition for having been so old. Unfortunately for me, it had three coats of paint to be stripped (more on that next week). I wish I could keep it right here in my family room to store the kids' toys in!
This is what it looked like to begin with. I forgot to take a 'before' picture of the chest, but this is from the same set. I assure you, they were identical in their ugliness. Just for kicks, check out Broyhill's prices...WOW.
Paint is "Glass of Milk" by Martha Stewart in high gloss. Check back for this dresser refinished next week.

I love working on antiques! There's something so exciting about a piece of furniture that has been around for over a hundred years and been through dozens of owners. While originally made as a server, it would work great as an entry table or a night stand if you have a higher bed.
I couldn't bring myself to paint the inside. I love the juxtaposition of the old with the new.

Paint is Sharkey Gray by Martha Stewart in Eggshell

I purchased this vintage coat rack from a thrift store months ago with the intention of putting it in our vestibule. Unfortunately, it didn't work with the round room as I had hoped. Maybe someone else will have better luck with it.

If you live here locally and are interested one of these pieces or have something of your own you'd like refinished, send me an email at nattycox@gmail.com.
