An Error in Judgement

The last couple days I've been working on this desk.  I was going for a chic, glossy emerald green.  As I've been working on it, half of my sub-conscious was registering that it wasn't emerald green at all, but a darker hunter green.  The other half was refusing to acknowledge this saying that it was going to look great {I had already purchased the paint and put a lot of time into it - it'll be fine!}.  I'm so stubborn.  I finished it, took the tape off the drawers and started to put the hardware back on.

All I could think, was this drawer looked like Christmas.  So not the look I was going for.

I hemmed and hawed all evening trying to tell myself it looked awesome.  I can't possibly waste more time on this project with so many waiting.  Hunter green is chic too, right?  Maybe, but not what I was going for.  I couldn't sleep until I finally admitted that it needed to be changed and that I would head to the paint store in the morning for something new.  Ahhh...sleep finally came.

The new paint is on the top drawer.  Much better... chic, glossy emerald green.
I'll meet you back here tomorrow for the reveal.

  2. Oh, I soooooo know that feeling. One thing I do know, and you know too, is that people like us will NEVER EVER forget the color that was "supposed" to be. You will never get used to the "mistake". Just cut your losses now and do it while everything is still a mess. :)

Also, I'm going to want it when you're done! Wah!

  3. That dresser would have been super in style..in the 90's. I hate that! Especially when you feel like you've wasted so much time! Speaking of, I'm painting a little dining room table for our breakfast nook. Anyway, I painted the table an ivory color and then painted the chairs a brighter green and I feel like it might be too much. What do you think about painting the chairs a different color than the table? (This is the second color too, first I tried a brighter blue and it was way too much for me, ugh)

  6. So many greens! I'm stressing over different shades of "apple" green right now. Since I have now seen the finished product, I have to tell you, you did the right thing!

  7. That really was a good call! It's funny how a different shade of a color can make or break the outcome of a piece!

  8. Both colours are beautiful. Is the darker shade really 'out' now? Darn!
