R and R

I was sick last weekend and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting much better.  We had a trip scheduled for the weekend and I started to worry that I wasn't going to feel well enough to go.  I hightailed it to the Dr. only to find out I wasn't going to get better.  Not for a while, anyway.

All of the wonderful "Haboobs" we've been having here in Arizona the last month have kicked up a fungi found in desert soils that causes acute coccidioidomycosis - know to Arizonans as Valley Fever.

Much to my dismay, the Dr. informed me that this Valley Fever will most likely keep me feeling yucky for a few more weeks, but that it could last up to six months!  I'm not gonna lie, I cried the whole drive home.

We're headed to our family cabin for a long weekend and I plan to use this as my excuse to sit around and do nothing…maybe there is a silver lining :)

  1. At least they caught it early. I know it doesn't help right now, but if left unchecked, the lung scarring can appear as cancer in later life, and make you have an unnecessary biopsy. It's also extremely unusual to have it last up to 6 months. I bet you'll be better sooner rather than later. Enjoy your trip up North! =)

  7. Oh no! I'm so sorry you're sick with such a nasty virus (?). I've heard of it but never knew anyone who had it. Would something like probiotics help? Take care of yourself and enjoy your time away. Big hugs!

  11. Oh Nat...that's the worst! I was diagnosed with Valley Fever a couple of years ago! Let me know if I can take your kiddos anytime for you. I can't believe school is around the corner and we didn't see you guys this summer (Ive been pretty anti-social though). My husband got his MBA at ASU a couple of years ago. We should go to dinner sometime and catch up!!
