Eliza Cox

Our sweet Eliza finally blessed us with her presence on April 5, 2012.  Her little heart couldn't hold out any longer, but she gave it a good fight.  I was blessed to carry her for much longer than the doctors anticipated and I will always cherish the time we had together.  We miss her, but feel such peace knowing we will see her again.

Thank you for all the love and support during such a difficult time.

Natalie

  1. Oh Natty, I am so sorry for the grief you and your family must be feeling right now. She must be one amazingly perfect spirit to only have been here for such a short time. How blessed you guys are to have her apart of your family for eternity! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the spirit comfort you and let you know how much your Heavenly Father loves you! Much love, Trish

  37. how fitting that little eliza came to the earth briefly at this easter season when the commemoration of our savior's atonement and resurrection brings peace and hope to us all.

i'm thankful for the knowledge that i'll see my loved ones again. the thing is --- now it's up to ME!

but the thought of eternal families make the challenges and trials we're asked to endure during this earth life worth it.

thinking of you and your family, natalie.

  61. Ann Marie is a mutual friend who gave me your blog. I have lost a little girl as well - at 30 weeks. She only lived a day. Severe Hydrops, only nothing metabolically or chromosomally wrong. They still don't know why she got so sick... Her brother, born a little under a year before, was a full term still born. His passing was due to a rare cord accident. Weird? Sure, but as you have said, we get to give them their bodies but we don't choose their life journey or purpose. But I know what it's like to bury a child. I'm hear to share any venting you may need/want. I'm sorry for your family's loss. It's hard on the kiddos too. I'm truly grateful you have the full gospel so that you know exactly where you daughter is and that you will see her again. I have had many sweet eperiences where I have felt my kids here, comforting me or my other kids. I pray you will have the same tender moments in the futre.

  69. In the quiet heart is hidden, sorrow that the eye can't see..... I have no idea the grief and emence sadness you and your family are facing at this time, but I do know that our savior and redeemer descended below all things. He truly knows what you are going through and will bear you up in your times of need. You are not alone. We are so blessed to have a knowledge of the plan of salvation and to know that families are forever. May this experience strengthen your relationship with Jesus, your husband, children and even yourself. You are a beloved daughter of god.

  79. Natalie - I cried as I read your post. I cannot imagine what you are going through. My brother had a baby with trisomy 18 and it was heartbreaking. Their boy lived for about a month after he was born. And I remember holding him and thinking how perfect and angelic he looked even with the problems with his hands and feet. His body just radiated such a glow, like he never left the glory of heaven. I am thinking of you and your sweet family at this time. Many prayers your way.

  104. I found your blog tonight looking for a bamboo dresser and after reading about your baby girl Eliza's condition I just wanted to thank you for giving her the short time to grace this world we take for granted. You have given her such a powerful name, your blessings will continue by the love in and from your older children. I hope and pray for you + your family, and most especially little Eliza. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh, Natalie. Sometimes life just breaks your heart wide open. I hope you and your family find peace and comfort as the days pass. And I hope you'll feel little Eliza's spirit with you in the years to come. Many friends and family have spoken of feeling their loved ones close by in times when the veil was very thin. My mom felt her mom in the room the day my first daughter was born. I'm sure Eliza will draw close to you many times in the coming years and, when you see her again, she'll be as familiar to you as if she'd been allowed to stay here on earth.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I heard this interesting story on NPR today and it made me think about you and all the women who have lost their dear little ones. Scientists discovered that when a woman is pregnant, some of the baby's cells leak out of the placenta and stick with the mother forever and ever. And sometimes when the mom gets sick, the cells rush to the sick site of the body and help the mom's body fight disease. So even though you know that your sweet little Eliza is now your angel protecting you in heaven, a part of her is still literally alive in side of you, and she might be there to protect you from the inside-out your whole life. I hope you are doing as well as you can be right now. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.
